An Operating System is the software that communicates with the hardware of a computer system and works as the intermediary between the installed applications and the hardware, including peripheral devices such as a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. When you run software, it sends requests to the OS through an API (Application Program Interface) and the interaction is done via a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Just like a personal computer, web hosting servers also feature an Operating System which serves as a host for all of the software installed on them, including script applications or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, and so on. A virtual machine can be generated on a physical one, so it is possible to install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment compared to the physical server host Operating System.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

The dedicated server plans that we offer come with as many as three different Operating Systems to select from. They are all Linux distributions - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license charges, but they are also regarded as the most dependable and secure OSs. We offer three different ones since each of them is backed by a separate community. The packages which you could add on your web server are different and this could matter in case you need to install some piece of software with specific requirements for the hosting environment. In this light, the hosting Control Panel which you can select for the dedicated server is also determined by the OS that you will select. You can choose any of the three Operating Systems throughout the order procedure, but if needed, we can always install the server once again with an alternative one upon your request. As an additional service that you may add to the package whenever you want, we can update your OS regularly in order to keep it as risk-free as possible.
